With spring ahead of us, it is time to revamp our wardrobes. What better way to do that than with a new and improved style of clothing? Step aside miniskirts. Move along maxi skirts. There is a new crop in town: the “midi.” Not only do midi’s provide the bohemian feel of a maxi, but they also cover up the leg without dragging against the ground. Needless to say, midi skirts are having a major moment this season.
This Fashionista, whom I spotted in Paris, epitomized how a midi skirt should be worn. The skirt was basic black with a ruffled hem that flowed in the wind. By pairing it with a cropped sweater and ankle boots, followed by cute accessories, she achieved a relaxed, offbeat vibe. The tribal-printed sweater is very on-trend right now, and is perfect for those windy Parisian days. Also, its cropped length compliments the high-waisted skirt, giving the illusion of legs for days. She grounded her look with black ankle booties with gold buckles, which popped out right under the skirt. The outfit was completed with several simple, yet effective accessories. A shark’s tooth necklace and hot pink John Lennon frames gave off a personalized, vintage feel.
Overall, this Fashionista combined many eclectic elements that resulted in a gypsy-like, downtown-cool effect. Recreate her look with a cropped Aztec sweater, a long skirt and some black ankle booties. The Fashionista’s midi skirt is extremely unique, but if you scour through vintage stores and thrift shops, you may be able to find something similar.
