STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: May Snow Brings June Flowers?

June 2nd, 2015 at 2:00am

Although classes are out, it is still snowing in Michigan and in other places in the Midwest. These random snow storms can often make it difficult to wake up and venture outside even after your 7:45 a.m. morning class is done for the semester. Staying the right temperature during this time of the season can often be challenging, but light and bright layers remind us that summer is near. These colorful hues also help us keep our sanity during the last and final snow flurry.

This Fashionista is keeping it bold and vibrant like the colors of spring and summer by incorporating metallics and floral prints into her outfit. Her brave texture combinations work well by bringing the grunge and feminine looks together seamlessly. The dark colors of her leather bomber jacket and velvet leggings vary in texture, however, their similar colors only help to make the adorable floral skirt stand out even more. I love how the bright pinks and purples of her hair and lipstick can be found within the pattern of her skirt and in the iridescent shine of her combat boots to bring the color scheme full circle.

With festival season already in full swing, I love this this Fashionista’s rocker-chic vibe. The fringe and the pins found on her jacket remind me of something that one of the HAIM sisters would wear on stage at Coachella or Lollapalooza. Using a scrunchie as a bracelet only helps to solidify the contrast between the grunge and feminine look that she achieved perfectly. It may have snowed this week, but her sunglasses and bright floral skirt give us hope that summer might be here to stay.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to mix pieces that you think might not go together. I always just put on what I want to wear and let my random ensembles work themselves out to make my fashion statements.”
