STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Maximum Style

Hey, Fashionistas/os! I hope everyone enjoyed the Fourth of July as much as we did here in Connecticut. Well into summer, it’s a good time to look as hot as all those fireworks and these beach days. Nice weather inspires most of us to spruce up our wardrobe and look our best going out. Shopping around at the mall this week, I saw lots of stylish shoppers and workers who were sporting their summer looks.

Walking around my local shopping mall, I ran into this Fashionista working in one of the shops. She wears a simple black and white maxi dress with a denim jacket, black leather flat sandals and a high bun. This is an easy and breezy outfit for summertime, especially for working retail.

Her maxi dress is a classic summer staple, long but flowy and cool, and it carries a certain boldness from the chic black and white stripes. It’s stylish while still being extremely comfortable and cool in warm weather. On top of the sleeveless dress, our Fashionista wears a denim jacket, another warm-weather staple piece. The jacket is light and summery enough, while still providing some coverage and warmth while at work in the summer. It’s perfect for when it gets cool at night or when you’re working in an air-conditioned environment. For shoes, she wears a pair of basic black leather flat sandals. They’re the perfect sandals for summer because of their openness, but more fashionable and appropriate for work and social environments than a pair of flip flops. To finish off her look, the Fashionista wears her hair in a neat, high bun. It adds to the look because she looks collected and clean, yet stylish and bold because of how high the bun is. Her hairstyle is also ideal for a work environment because of the chic and polished look.

If you’re looking to put together the perfect casual summer outfit for day parties or work, do as this Fashionista does by throwing on a comfy maxi dress with a cool design or color that fits your style, personality or mood, and pair it with comfortable gladiator or leather sandals. If you’ll be in air conditioning or want to be prepared for a bit of chilliness, add a cute denim jacket or cardigan to the outfit.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Well, at work, I like to be as comfortable as possible while still looking cute. I love maxis because you get the best of both worlds. They’re really comfy and easy to put on to make an outfit but they’re still trendy and cute.”
