STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Maxi-mize Your Wardrobe

Style Advice of the Week

As the temperatures begin to rise, so do fashion expectations. During the winter, fashion is much more focused on utility—our need to stay warm largely influences our apparel decisions. As the school year comes to a close, Fashionistas feel the pressure to sport the hottest trends in their last few weeks of classes. At Mizzou, the final weeks of school are notoriously warm. It’s often difficult to dress stylishly while staying comfortable under the sweltering sun. Lucky for the many Fashionistas on campus, one of this summer’s hottest trends is also one of the most comfortable: maxi skirts.

Maxi skirts are the best way to take on the heat in style—they are breathable and on trend. With this ensemble, this Fashionista hits the fashion jackpot. She is able to take a comfortable black maxi skirt and dress it up for any occasion! She pairs her skirt with a purple and peach floral printed top, which is the perfect way to brighten her summer look.

She continues the floral theme by accessorizing with a pair of white rose earrings, which flawlessly coordinate with her white Michael Kors watch. Her two gold Alex and Ani bangles help to tie the rest of the look together as gold is seen throughout her ensemble. Her outfit is kept casual and fun with a pair of gold gladiator sandals and a funky blue ring. As all Fashionistas know, no look is complete without the right bag. Her choice of a luxurious caramel handbag tops this ensemble off!

In this outfit, she is ready for anything—it’s the perfect look for a day of classes, a much-needed shopping spree or a relaxing outside meal with friends. This summer, if you find yourself not knowing where the day might take you, you can count on a maxi skirt to help you take on anything in style!
