Style Advice of the Week

Happy spring Fashionistas and Fashionistos! Maxi dresses are taking over this season, and it’s about time. I was getting worried the cold weather would never end and, now that it has, it’s time to ditch the winter wear and invest in skirts, maxi dresses and vests like this Fashionista has.

Printed maxi dresses can be a fun and exciting piece to your outfit. This Fashionista chose a maxi dress from Wet Seal with a mix of chevron patterns and tribal prints. Depending on the designer or brand, a maxi dress is an inexpensive way to dress more than “just rolled out of bed” and less than formal. If you’re willing to invest in a dress, this beautifully embroidered maxi dress from Anthropologie is a good choice, but if you’re looking for something basic then Topshop is to the rescue. Topshop has a large selection of affordable maxi dresses for a Fashionista eager to, instead, make a statement with accessories.

This Fashionista uses a vest and purse to maximize her look. A light washed denim vest, like this vest from American Eagle Outfitters, against a dark colored or printed strapless maxi dress is a great accessory to wear and gives each piece a chance to stand out. If you find vests to be pointless, there is nothing wrong with wearing a denim jacket. Try a dark denim jacket also from American Eagle. Personally, I wouldn’t want a baggy denim jacket to hide most of my dress, so I love wearing a denim jacket that is slightly fitted while I wear my favorite maxi dress.

The best part about investing in a maxi dress now is that it can be recycled come summertime. I hope all of you Fashionistas buy a maxi dress and rock it at least once this spring season.
