STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Make your Barbecue Outfit a Standout Look

Barbecues are often a major part of everyone’s summer evenings. They consist of refreshing beverages, yummy burgers, corn on the cob and of course s’mores to complete the fun night. I always have a difficult time choosing an outfit for a barbecue because while it is a casual event usually on the patio or in the backyard of a close friend’s house, it is still an opportunity to show off some of your favorite summer numbers!

Barbecues occur in the late afternoon or early evening when the summer breeze picks up and the cool, refreshing air feels good after a day in the sun. This calls for a lightweight pullover sweater or a denim jacket. Gap makes affordable, comfortable denim jackets and Urban Outfitters, LF and Free People have trendy sweaters and cardigans. Add a colorful, summery scarf to keep you warm and brighten up your outfit. If you’re like me and can’t handle your long hair blowing in your face and food, pull it back into a side-braid, a sock-bun, or my summer favorite, a fishtail braid.

Boyfriend jeans are perfect for barbeques because they are not only casual and comfortable, but also really chic and in-season. If you’re not a fan of the baggy look, try out a sleek white jean or light-wash denim ripped pair. rag & bone and Paige make high-quality boyfriend jeans. If you’re looking for something more affordable, check out Zara or Gap for an eclectic selection.

Being a sneaker fiend, I think a cool white pair of high-top Converse or Adidas would look perfect with any barbecue outfit. Espadrilles are super in style right now and Soludos makes ridiculously comfortable pairs with really fun designs and patterns on them.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Primarily dress for the weather because being uncomfortable always kills your mood at a fun event.”
