On a classic, summer day in Atlanta, I stumbled across this beautiful Fashionista in a statement chevron top whom I was anxious to photograph. Just as I had begun to snap her picture, her friend appeared in an equally as trendy of an outfit. While wearing a bold print or hue with mostly neutrals may not be the most complex thing to do, these two Fashionistas show that it is perhaps one of the easiest trends to pull off as the results are consistently chic.
The Fashionista on the right wears a pair of black trousers and beautiful, platform strappy sandals. She adds some oomph to her ensemble with a multicolored chevron blouse. The blouse is undoubtedly done in a bold print, but the neutral pieces of her outfit simultaneously mute and complement the pattern. Her bubblegum pink lipstick adds even more personality to her look.
The Fashionista on the left opts for a neutral black, silk button-down and boyfriend jeans, only to pair them with a gorgeous pair of royal blue, suede, pointed toe pumps and gold statement jewelry. While the pumps and jewelry may not be as initially eye-catching as her friend’s blouse, they add sophistication to this otherwise simple outfit and make it stand out.
Ready to try the trend for yourself? Luckily, it can be done in a variety of ways. All you need is one piece that truly makes an impact to pair with fairly neutral basics. I like the idea of these stunning printed pants from Zara with an unfussy pair of flat sandals and a simple silk blouse.
The beauty of this trend is that it can be reworked with any article of clothing. While we all wish we could simply steal looks from off the runway, the task is easier said than done. Statement pieces will always be in style, so don’t be afraid to take the risk.
