STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Make a Statement

Fall semester is beginning at most universities, and with that in mind it is important to make a statement with your look. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to switch up your style, now is a great time to do that. New classes means new classmates and teachers, and you can show everyone a little bit about your personality without saying a word, if you dress yourself for the part. For those of you skeptical of the power of fashion, I will offer an important tip: how people view you is directly affected by what you wear! So next time you’re thinking about showing up to that a.m. lecture in your pajamas, please think again.

This Fashionista choose to show off her cool girl style with a Neil Diamond band tee, ripped jeans, Converse high-tops and a bold necklace. The tied checkered shirt adds to the functionality of the outfit because she can wear it around her waist outdoors, and throw it on when she gets to that class with the A/C cranked up high. Whatever the situation, functionality is always an important aspect to consider. Part of looking great is feeling confident in what you wear, which is why comfort and style go hand in hand. I love this look because it is so well put together, and effortlessly so. The basis of the look are jeans and a lived-in T-shirt, but the accessories kick it up a notch.
