STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Loving the Layers

November 3rd, 2015 at 2:00am

When it comes to fall, the weather can be a tad confusing. So confusing, in fact, that when you wake up in the morning you’re freezing, but by mid-day you’re having a heat stroke. You may ask, what is the answer to this crazy problem? Layers. Layers are the best solution for fall’s bipolar weather. Adding layers to any look allows you to be completely comfortable throughout the day, no matter what the temperature may be. This Fashionista did just that and she did it in a creative and unique way.

She started out the look with a simple white, black and gray blended sweater. This sweater is a perfect fall statement because the simple colors allow her to pair it with anything. She stuck with a similar color scheme and went with a pair of plain black skinny jeans. She wore black flats to finish the look. The black flats give a fall-like vibe when paired with the pants and sweater and provide something different rather than the typical fall boot. The most standout piece in this look is the Fashionista’s trench coat. The trench coat defines the rule of layering. The black color goes along perfectly with the neutral color scheme of the rest of her outfit. The coat is thin enough that one can wear it throughout the day without taking it off like a normal winter coat, but it is thick enough to provide warmth, especially during those cold fall mornings. The coat stands out and is the final piece of this outfit that ties it all together. She adds a few simple jewelry pieces and a neutral color on her nails to stick with the simple yet sophisticated look she has going on. She also chose a simple pink lipstick that added just a pop of color to the look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I feel that your style is a representation of your personality. It is something to have fun with and explore new trends. There is no such thing as too much black.”
