STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Loving Leather

As Wisconsin’s most miserable season marches by, it gets harder to imagine swimming at the Terrace and rollerblading near the lake. Fear not my lovely Fashionistas and Fashionistos, because spring is beginning to make its way onto the horizon. Winter’s bitter cold is finally beginning to heat up, making the season’s ever-present black parkas less of a necessity. With that being said, now is the time to pull out your favorite lightweight coats. My favorite spring jacket to wear is my leather one. The leather coat is warm, edgy and looks very hipster when paired with a slouchy beanie.

This Fashionista shows off her love for leather with this black, classic-cut coat. I especially love how she leaves her jacket unzipped, showing off a little extra color underneath. Her riding boots are the perfect complement for this edgy look. By adding a sweatshirt underneath her jacket, this Fashionista adds a bit of comfort to the typically stiff coat. Another way to add warmth and coziness to your look is by finding a coat that has a built-in sweatshirt layer. Wearing a coat like this can help you cut down on your morning prep time, making the much-needed coffee run possible. For an extra pop of color, choose a brightly colored shirt, hat or necklace. Some added color would be the perfect bright touch for a gloomy early-spring day.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When it comes to leather, mixing black and brown can give your look a new level of chic.”
