STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Lovely in Leather

Sometimes things are best in small doses because they are so powerful and too much is too overwhelming. For example, leather is an eternally cool material, but it can quickly become overkill in an outfit. Limiting leather to just one part of an outfit can give your look a subtle edge.

This Fashionista began with a lightweight, gray sweater with faux leather details on the sleeves and pocket. This piece is perfect for the spring because it offers the perfect amount of warmth. Leather is traditionally a more autumnal or wintery fabric, but in such small accents, it is light enough to look perfect in warmer temperatures. Black jeggings are the perfect complement to the sweater because they don’t distract, and with a pair of black, lace-up boots, they offer a streamlined look to balance out the looseness of the top.

My favorite part of this Fashionista’s look is her plethora of accessories. I love the earthiness of her brown, beaded bracelet and the bohemian-chic feel of all of her silver rings, especially the ring with the turquoise and red jasper stones. The western feel of the rings balances out the edginess of the faux leather in the top. She finished the look with natural makeup and loosely wavy hair.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If you don’t feel comfortable plunging into your skinnies and killer heels, then go home and change. You should create your own signature style based on your personality so that you feel comfortable and beautiful at the same time.”
