After suffering much guilt last week over possibly being the reason why we suffered yet another mid-March snowstorm (by way of “jinxing” in my post last week), I think it is safe to say that it is spring at last.
While this official statement may mean different things to different people depending on geographic location, we here in the northeast know better than to break out our sundresses and sandals. Announcing spring’s arrival means a gentle foray into lighter jackets and replacing our riding boots for flats.
When I spotted this Fashionista’s outfit, it seemed like the best representation of the perfect transition between seasons. From her army green jacket down to her casual ankle boots, each piece is ambiguously between either a winter or spring piece.
The army green jacket, via Anthropologie and a personal favorite of mine, is really showing both sides of this argument with the cranberry colored velvet lining contrasting with the adorable lace appliqué, creating a transitional piece that is really perfect for any season. Underneath, the nude colored light sweater is perfect to be worn on its own if the weather permits. The dual-colored leggings bring life back to usually plain black leggings. For accessories, this Fashionista is keeping neutral with a beige bag matching her light brown suede Steve Madden ankle boots, both of which complement her gold chevron inspired necklace.
All in all, this outfit should serve as an example of how to seamlessly transition from season to season. Keep it neutral and keep it functional, and before you know it, it will be tank tops and T-shirt weather.
