To live life on the edge, one must take risks and go after what they want. However, the motto is not limited to someone rock climbing on the edge of a cliff or partaking in daring activities, it can also be applied to fashion. I take a less dangerous approach to the motto by incorporating an edge into my outfits. After all, fashion would be nothing without its risk-taking trendsetters.
I chose this Fashionista, not because she happens to be standing on the edge of the dock, but because her outfit exudes an edgy vibe. I spotted this Fashionista from almost a mile away and was particularly drawn to her floral open backed dress paired with combat boots. It was a beautiful day at the Port Jeff Docks so everyone seemed to be wearing sundresses with flip flops. Although, that was not the case for this Fashionista. Her feminine dress juxtaposed with the leather combat boots creates a unique combination. If the Fashionsta didn’t wear the combat boots, she may have been lost in the sea of flip flops and I wouldn’t have even noticed her cute dress. She took a risk by wearing the combat boots, which some would think is reserved for fall and winter only but she proved otherwise.
Her spike bracelet was another good way to spice up the floral dress, proving opposites attract. Black and white, a popular trend this season, is another example of how opposites can create an appealing contrast when paired together. Don’t be afraid to take a risk and mix different styles or materials because you will be surprised at how well unexpected items can look together. If you’re not willing to live your entire life on the edge, at least do so when it comes to fashion.
