STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Little Button-Downs

June 1st, 2015 at 2:00am

There’s been a button-down craze lately. From putting it on as a light cover-up in the chilly morning to tying it around your waist when the afternoon heat catches up to you, ’tis the season where the confusing weather makes us complain about having to lug around a light jacket throughout the day.

This is where the little button-down comes in.

The craze of the button-down and flannels started in the ’90s, and it seems that it’s making a big comeback this season. It’s the perfect go-to cover-up when it comes to keeping things casual. Streetwear has become a big part of the fashion world and has even mingled within high fashion highlights here and there. Not only is it comfortable, but it has also become fashionable.

One of the best part about button-downs is how oversized they are like the kimono-styled button-down, the boyfriend button-down and the simple oversized button-down that goes perfectly with the hot and cold weather that we’ve been having. It also pairs nicely with any casual outfit that is usually completed with a crop top and shorts or even a casual skater dress.

How does one pair the little button-down? Check out this Fashionista’s look for example. She went for a casual look for the nice, warm weather. Wearing a simple black skater dress paired with black gladiator sandals, she topped off the outfit with a simple denim button-down.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “To always stay elegantly casual while being comfortable—that’s what’s important. My little button-down is always a must.”
