STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Less is More

Reinventing an old style is what fashion trends are based on. The denim jacket has been reinvented many times round and for this Fashionisto is the go-to staple item to complete his casual style. The first “working blouse” arguably created by the father of denim, Levi Strauss, has changed, adapted and rejuvenated many times over the decades. It transformed from an iconic item in a cowboys wardrobe to a student’s essential jacket for those hangover days.

What really makes this vintage jacket stand out for me is the Louboutin-style deep red lining. By contrasting the deep blue and picking out the iconic Ralph Lauren icon, it is so not your average denim jacket.  The elastic gathered cuffs and waistline along with the collar-less neck turns this piece into a fashion-forward statement perfect for when you’re ditching the heavy winter coats for the summer season.

The rest of this Fashionisto’s outfit is presented with black denim jeans, a simple black hoodie from Topshop and his trade mark white T-shirt that suits the laid back look. Opting for Nike Stefan Janoski’s, versatile skate footwear that channels the preppy-deck-shoe style, is great for the summer and the warm weather. If you’re anything like this Fashionisto, rolling up your trousers is a great way to emphasize your carefully chosen footwear, similarly mimicked by Ralph Lauren’s spring/summer 2015 menswear collection.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Less is more. If you want to show off your jacket don’t draw attention away from it. Plain colors are best.”
