STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Less Is More

As Coco Chanel once said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.” Although accessories are the best way to complete an outfit, they can sometimes be the deal breaker that can make or break your outfit. Sometimes accessories can just be too much.

I have never really been big on accessorizing; I would say I like to keep it simple. I try to either wear simple earrings and bracelets with a long necklace or a statement necklace with bracelets. I try to always focus on accessorizing one part of my body to give my outfit a statement piece.

That’s why this Fashionista caught my eye on my way to class. She is wearing boyfriend jeans and booties with a casual white long sleeve shirt; to top off her casual look, she completed her outfit with simple gold touches. Her focus point was her gold statement necklace with pear accents. She also incorporated bracelets with black accents and rings to match.

Coco Chanel couldn’t be any more correct—less is always more. Sometimes too many accessories take over the beauty of an outfit. This Fashionista incorporated the perfect amount of simple without making her outfit too plain. However, if you are worried about your outfit being too boring, you can always spice up your outfit with different textures. Try a fur vest or a bright lipstick! You can never go wrong with a pop of color!
