STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Layers

As anyone who lives in a snowy and cold area knows, layers are honestly more than essential. Freezing temperatures mean wearing an undershirt, a T-shirt, a sweater, a vest, a coat and a scarf (sometimes even more layers)!

What is perfect about this Fashionista’s look is that it is simple and practical. She is able to look adorable while still staying warm in her layers. Furthermore, she sticks to muted colored pieces featuring gray, black, and eggplant purple. My personal favorite thing about this ensemble is the shoes! Shoes have such a large impact on an outfit that you must make sure you pick the right ones. These are such a minimalistic shoe but they are to die for. The chunky heel and cleated heel make these a stand-out bootie. You can find similar ones here.

As far as layers themselves go, I absolutely suggest investing in many different types, textures, and styles. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, layers are often basic pieces of clothing one is able to find at discounted prices. My favorite camisoles are these ones from Forever 21 because they’re affordable for everyone and the quality is surprisingly great. The same goes for basic long-sleeved shirts and sweaters at retailers like H&M and Zara. However, if you are willing to spend a little more money, go to American Apparel or UNIQLO and buy something like this!

What’s your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Where I’m from, in Milan, high heeled boots with cleated soles are becoming a thing! They’re comfortable to walk in and perfect for the snow. So I definitely recommend investing in some for a great look to show off in Chicago cold!”
