STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Layers of Dapper

The cold weather has finally settled in here in Montana and it’s more important than ever to keep warm. I love this time of year because of the clothing possibilities. You can always put on more layers if you’re cold, but there are only so many layers you can take off if you’re too hot. Yet, just because you have to bundle into a few more layers, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style!

I ran across this dapper student in the middle of campus and just had to document his look. Layers are the perfect dual functioning trend for the winter months, allowing not only warmth but also the trending style of this time of year. This fashion-forward individual effortlessly nailed his winter look and proved that you don’t need to over do it with layers in order to achieve this trend. Instead of packing on coat after coat and ending up looking more like Randy from A Christmas Story after his mother bundles him up to the point of minimal movement, he simply adorned a warm, black peacoat and paired it with a neutral colored scarf. Without altering his figure past the point of recognition, a few strategic layers allowed him to stay warm and keep his dapper look. He also added a personal touch to the outfit with a sleek watch and fashionable colored shoes.

Layers are one of the most important up-and-coming trends in the fashion world and also one of the easiest to create. My wardrobe is quickly filling up with simple layering pieces I can use in a variety of different ways. A simple bodysuit is the perfect base piece to any layering outfit and is light enough that you won’t overheat even when indoors. You can also never go wrong adding a cozy cardigan or leather jacket to the look.

I’m always looking for fashionable individuals to inspire my layering looks and this guy did just that. Cold weather doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice a clean and classy look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The cold shouldn’t dictate what clothing we wear but rather, how well we wear it.”
