STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Layering With Plaid

June 2nd, 2015 at 2:00am

It’s that time of year in New York when it wants to be summer, but the chilly days just won’t allow it. For Fashionistas, this weather can be difficult because it’s not hot enough for shift dresses and distressed shorts, and it’s not cold enough for a statement fur vest. This Fashionista got the look right with her Chris Brown-inspired outfit that kept her warm, yet in style.

Plaid seems to never go out of style, as this redheaded Fashionista proves with her bright colored button-down flying open with a white tank top underneath. On top, she wears a light olive jacket over the button-down. The colors of the plaid shirt scream summer, while the jacket calms the outfit down for a cooler New York day. Her distressed jeans complete the outfit and give her a tomboy-chic look. The classic Converse on her feet keep the outfit casual and is the perfect footwear choice for this in-between weather.

This outfit can easily be shifted for a night out in the city by tying the plaid button-down around your waist, removing the jacket and replacing the comfortable Converse with nude pumps for a fully chic look.

This Fashionista sure knows how to keep warm and stay stylish during the transitioning weeks. Take her advice ad you’re on the right track for a successful outfit on the chillier early summer days.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Dressing comfortable doesn’t mean you have to be a tomboy. A white T-shirt with a plaid button-down is the new thing.”
