STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Layering Lady

July 22nd, 2015 at 2:00am

Contrary to popular belief, a summer in California isn’t all about beaches and sunshine. Up here in Northern California, we get our fair share of foggy days and chilly nights. Rather than sulk in the summertime seasonal depression that comes along somehow, it is key to dress accordingly! Although the weather can get you down, those moments of sunshine and warmth are glorious and appreciated.

This Fashionista keeps warm while looking hot! She wears a simple white blouse over skinny black pants, but layers more than appropriately. Her patterned knitted cardigan goes hand in hand with her black and nude lace-up flats, giving her outfit a breezy vibe.

As a true Fashionista would, she accessorizes herself accordingly. She rocks a silver and gold chunky necklace and pairs it with a single green and gold bangle to add that color pop. Topping her entire outfit off with a brown leather bag, this Fashionista is ready for the day, regardless of whatever change the weather might make.

For your next excursion, rather than trying to one-up the fashion game, focus on your own comfort first. Nothing is worse than being uncomfortable in your own skin.

Flats aren’t in your comfort zone? No problem. Trade them in for boots to add comfort and warmth. For a long day out on the town, throw your hair up into a sock bun for a simple and sophisticated touch.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Comfort is the most important aspect of fashion, so layer up!”

Hello, I’m Audrey! I attend Syracuse University in upstate New York, but was born and raised in the San Francisco, California Bay Area. My first year away from home was a tough one, but I learned so much about myself and I can’t wait to be back on campus in the fall! My style consists of funky statement pieces, an array of neutral colors, a perfect combination of jewelry and always a swipe of colorful lipstick. My favorite stores include ASOS, Urban Outfitters, Top Shop and Free People, but I rely heavily on thrift stores to help finish off an incomplete outfit. You can most likely find me on a hike, in the local coffee shop, online shopping, or eating my way through the Bay Area. Style on!
