The first week of school has started, and Syracuse University campus is filled with wonderful looking people. It is this rare time of the year when Syracuse students enjoy the sun and are able to stay away from puffy coats and jackets.
I met this gorgeous Fashionista this morning, and thought that her outfit was great. I am a big fan of layers and chunky knits being worn over dresses. All the major designers featured layered looks on the runway this season. Layering allows you to mix different styles, keeps you warm and makes wearing dresses or skirts more casual. This Fashionista masterfully mixed and matched her striped UNIQLO dress with a vintage knit. Her Steve Madden combat boots made the look very casual with a hint of grunge, which is also a trend this fall. By adding Forever 21 rings and Alex and Ani bracelets she looks feminine and romantic, despite the masculine and unisex feel that her combat boots bring. Her Dooney & Bourke bag adds class to her look, and is an essential tote bag for a college student.
Layers allow you to create any look that you want. They also give you the ability to dress up or down. To make this look more dressy, this outfit can be worn with wedges or pumps, or you can make it look summer inspired if you put on your favourite sandals. A chambray jacket or a chunky cardigan could be worn instead of a sweater to keep the layering going.
