STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Layer Away with Openwork Cardigans

October 16th, 2015 at 2:00am

It’s the first week of October, an ideal time to pack away those t-shirts and begin stocking up on the latest layering essentials. Here’s an important question though: what is stylish to wear when it’s too warm for a thick cardigan, but too chilly to simply slip on a tank top? You want to spice it up a bit and transition away from the tanks layered with long-sleeves, but as a college student, you also value simplicity and don’t wish to feel uncomfortable. Is it possible to achieve both simultaneously?

Absolutely. A key trend from the latest Premiere Vision Trade Show is versatile openwork. The openwork in this Avenue cardigan is simple, yet adds flair to what would have otherwise been a plain beige garment. There is a great deal of functionality to the piece, as it’s breathable in warmer weather, yet the perfect layering piece in transitional weather. The color is right on-trend, inspired by the latest Pantone color trend, and Oak Buff, a natural and mellow interpretation of beige. The black top and Nine West cross-body bag were very tasteful decisions made by the wearer, allowing the beige hue to remain the focal point of the ensemble. To complete her look, this Fashionista simply slipped on a pair of White Mountain clogs, which definitely add an interesting vintage flare.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Openwork cardigans are the perfect layering piece for this time of year. They’re lightweight and versatile can be worn with almost any outfit that comes to mind…skirts, jeans, pants and so much more!”
