STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Knotty By Nature

Fashion is a never ending cycle, which borrows trends from previous eras of time and enhances them. There are many classic looks that last throughout time much like jeans and in this case, a button-up shirt. This shirt can be worn in many ways and for multiple occasions. Many associate button-up, white collar shirts with a uniform outfit for work or some schools.  But let’s jazz it up! If you knot the bottom of the shirt, you will have created a whole new look.

This look was very popular in the ’90s and has been brought back by multiple stars such as Kristen Cavallari, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Eva Mendes and the list goes on. The knotted button-up shirt can be achieved by either buying it already done or doing it yourself. This is a style that can be worn all year with the right sleeve length or even sleeveless. This top is popularly worn with a skirt, whether it is long, short, wide or tight. Some people prefer it with shorts or jeans especially if trying to achieve a modern day country look.

This Fashionista has accomplished just this with a high-waist pencil skirt to make her knotted button-up pop! How is her style special compared to many others you might ask? Well her shirt is oversized, giving the knot more flare. (The oversized look for your button-up is a great way to overlap your high-waisted bottoms to bring out all your greatest features of your silhouette). Also, with an oversized shirt, you are given the chance to add more colors to the outfit by accenting the piece with a tank top. This Fashionista accessorized this great outfit with an orange wristlet, oversized hoops and simplistic sandals.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love putting my flair on ’50s pinup. A high-waist garment with a tied button up shirt is my favorite silhouette.”
