Well, congratulations all of you Nittany Lions! We have officially made it through another year here at Happy Valley and I can definitely say I am more than relieved to be finished and onto a fun and exciting summer. Finals week came and went and those long hours hopped up on coffee and late night pizza have finally said goodbye. With the school year completely over, all of you fashion lovers can focus on what really matters now, your summertime wardrobe.
While the sun still seems to be hiding behind the clouds here and there, the temperatures are without a doubt climbing. Our jeans and long-sleeves are taking to the backs of our closets and our cut-off shorties and sandals are coming back again. Just as I was packing up my last few boxes before heading home to Pittsburgh, I saw this Fashionista whose outfit was effortlessly cute and perfect to start off the quickly approaching sunny days ahead.
The number one reason this outfit stood out to me was because of the main article and focus of her match up. Her pastel patterned kimono took her rather simple outfit underneath to an entirely new level. I have recently become so interested in kimonos and plan to add many more into my summer attire. From Free People’s newest summer collection to the many boutiques here on campus, kimonos are making an even bigger debut in the summer months coming.
This Fashionista’s kimono was of a beige color filled with variations of orange, navy, brown and even some mint green. To achieve the look of it being the main piece, she paired it with a simple, white cropped tank and a pair of high-waisted navy shorts accented with a cutout circular pattern. Her minimal accessories added to the airy summer vibe even more. She chose tan braided sandals, which match comfort with style and chose a simple gold initial necklace and a pastel flower stud for jewelry.
This type of outfit is more than appropriate for the beginning days of summer and can go with you anywhere from a day by the pool to an evening eating outside with your girlfriends. To emulate a look such as this, start with a subtle short and top duo and then pair it with a patterned jacket or kimono to make it a little more fun and summery. With a look as cute and easy as this, you’ll have plenty of time to run out the door and not miss any of the fun summer activities you have planned for the day!
