STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keep It Simple

“Boys have it so easy!” says l, while I’m writing this article. I’m the girl who wakes up in the morning and cries bloody Mary because I can’t find what outfit to wear. I’ll put on several outfits before I come to usually a frustrated decision that the first outfit was the right choice, but sometimes it’s the fifth. I wonder as I walk out of my front door, “what would my life be like if I didn’t have so many choices in my wardrobe?” It was not too long after one of my morning meltdowns that my friend told me, next time just “keep it simple.” As easier said than done, I think maybe he is on to something. I looked at his outfit and thought, possibly what he means is, dress like you were diving into your boyfriend’s closet.

This Fashionisto’s “keeping it simple” trend is now my favorite look. It’s becoming a little nippy in New York and I have too many sweaters for my own good. His take on a classic striped sweater made my heart skip. There’s also the slightest hint of a red shirt beneath it, which compliments the look and will keep him a bit cozier. The colors are easy to match with and it even has a rather Tommy Hilfiger touch to it. His gray pants balance the darker tones and his worn in Timberlands bring his look almost to a finish.

His black-leathered MVMT watch is what pulls the look all together. I guess the outfit is as simple as it looks. Maybe I just overthink too much, but even with the advice given to me, I will still have my morning tantrums. However, what I did learn from this Fashionisto is a simple boyfriend sweater, pants, boots and accessory is an easy and comfortable look for this chilling weather here in the city.

If you are ever feeling rushed in the morning, don’t fear, keep it simple and you’ll be in the clear! I trust that you will leave your dorms or apartments content, even more so now that there’s an easy button attached to your closet. Keep warm and stay flawless!
