STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Jumpsuit Up

In 2014, jumpsuits slowly began resurfacing in the fashion world. Designers from Rebecca Taylor to Tibi were starting to exhibit the pieces in their collection. Eventually, jumpsuits took the fashion industry by storm as designers pledged to bring back the outdated piece.

I remember being horrified by this trend. In my mind, jumpsuits were for children and clowns, not designer runways. Jumpsuits suddenly starting appearing everywhere. From school to stores, they were unavoidable. The pieces were becoming so popular that the Wall Street Journal wrote an entire article about their comeback. Still, I remained indifferent.

Little did I know that my opinion on jumpsuits was about to be strongly tested. I was hanging with my best friend in Chicago. We entered Neiman Marcus and low and behold, jumpsuits were everywhere. I scoffed and looked away, but my eye was quickly drawn to a piece. An extravagant, beaded jumpsuit that had the intricacy of Zuhair Murad and edge of Balmain. I was in love. As I tried the piece on, all my detest for jumpsuits quickly faded away and was replaced with admiration. Jumpsuits quickly became a staple in my closet.

Personal stories aside, jumpsuits are very high fashion and luxurious. Jumpers can be found in a variety of styles and cuts to flatter a variety of body types. Jumpers also range from casual to elegant—perfect for every occasion. Jumpsuits can also be easily transitioned from season to season. Just add a pair of wedges for summer or a sweater for winter!

Here’s a perfect example of an evening jumper. This Fashionista rocks an edgy, fitted jumpsuit with a crisscross neck. The piece is sophisticated and sultry while accentuating her tiny waist and elongating her figure. Her pink heels add a splash of color and dress up the piece. Overall, this is a high fashion look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Try jumpsuits and rompers even if they’re a little out of your comfort zone! They relieve the stress of matching clothes, and they’re comfortable.”
