STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: It's Sweater Weather Again

October 27th, 2015 at 2:10am

Having experienced living in a few other states, I feel lucky living in Michigan. Sometimes in places like Los Angeles, I would feel the urge to pull out a big bulky sweater, but it never really got cold enough. Experiencing all four seasons is a Fashionista’s dream; the ability to incorporate the next runway season into my everyday wardrobe is always just a few months away. Although it can sometimes be hard to find an outfit to keep warm in the winter, a perfect sweater never lets me down.

The sweater trends seems to always come and go. This Fashionista mentioned that she is wearing a sweater that her mother wore back in the day. These last few years, the trend I see is to bring in the old and make it new. Nowadays, the best stores to get some great sweaters at are Goodwill, Salvation Army or a flea market in your town. There are also stores like Urban Outfitters that try to bring new styles and patterns into the mix.

Finding the perfect fit can sometimes be tricky. This Fashionista is an amazing example of how to dress in a single colored look. Her sweater lies slightly baggy and pairs well with her black skinny jeans. She paired her look with a fun, long necklace, earth tone earrings and a few statement rings. These simple additions can bring a look to a whole other level.

College can sometimes put you in a rush going from place to place. An easy way to prepare for working out after class would be to swap out jeans for a pair of yoga pants. Every now and then, sweaters can seem dull and accessories can become a sweater’s best friend. Adding a statement necklace can bring your look up to another level. This Fashionista’s Persian orange over-the-shoulder bag helps pull a lighter tone into her look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I have a really busy schedule between classes and work, so I try to keep my outfits as simple as possible. Since it is fall, I like to wear on big chunky sweaters. They are really cozy, but still cute.”
