STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: It’s All in the Layers

In Milwaukee it’s true you never know what kind of weather to expect. One day it will be sunny and in the seventies and the next day you’ll be wearing rain boots and wrapped up in a coat. But as we get further into fall I can assure you that it’s officially time to put away those summer clothes and bring on the layers. Layering your clothes is perfect for the indecisive weather of Wisconsin. If it’s cooler in the morning you just throw on a cardigan and scarf and as the temperature gets warmer during the day, you can easily take those right off. Adding just the right amount of layers can turn any boring outfit to the ideal fall attire.

This Fashionista’s outfit is the perfect example of layering. She wears a simple blue T-shirt dress with a gray cardigan over it. The white, fringed scarf adds some pattern and texture to the outfit. The knee-length socks are becoming a popular accessory item this fall and they’re the ideal substitute for stockings. Unlike stockings, these socks are more casual and do a better job at keeping your legs warm. They go very well with a pair of leather boots just like the ones she’s wearing. These dark gray boots match perfectly with the cool color scheme she has on. To finish the outfit she wears a black floppy hat. This hat is my favorite part of her outfit and gives the outfit a chic and trendy feel.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Getting dressed up when it’s cold can be difficult, so I like to wear clothes that are somewhat comfy and keep me warm, but are also cute at the same time. That’s why I like layering my clothes. It gives me the ability to mix and match my clothes while dressing warm and cute.”
