STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: In The Land Of The Supreme

April 23rd, 2015 at 2:00am

Youth culture at large has impacted the fashion scene heavily through the years from its weaving of derived subcultures that vary from punk rock to hip hop, and from skater to indie. From the big names like Hood By Air to Moschino, you can see all that we’ve created and incited. Whether the big wigs of the couture world want to admit it or not, we as the youth inspire fashion daily to make it what it is today. New York City by all means could be considered the hub of that culture and with brands that are made to specifically target and cater the needs of our youth, Supreme is no different.

Decked out in all things red, white and blue, this Fashionisto is the living embodiment of the American dream. From the standout U.S.A. flag pullover hoodie to the achromatic Puma x Ronnie Fieg trainers, this classical street style swagger is everything derived from urban subculture all blended into one for an efficient execution. The silhouette of the trainers are my favorite. Though very minimalistic in design, they are still edgy enough to create for a detailed look that is both simple yet contemporary.

With modern day tailoring, the addition of the peacoat is a timeless staple that reels in a more refined and definitive look when juxtaposed to the more youthful urban attire. Mastering the combination of both classics and present-day style, this Fashionisto is showing just some of the many possibilities that youth culture is capable of constructing together to bring more contemporary wear towards the world of fashion.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Include more classical pieces, maybe streetwear and more formal and just combine it.”
