Every woman should own a little black dress. But more importantly, and often overlooked, is the classic white T-shirt. Be it V-neck, oversized or cotton blend, the versatility of a simple white T-shirt allows for numerous wardrobe possibilities.
I found this Fashionista just after her class had ended. Being a dreary, cold Monday morning, it’s only fitting that she wore classic and comfortable pairings. She choose a slightly oversized and worn-in T-shirt and leggings, but with a navy jacket layered over a gray cardigan. A dainty necklace keeps the outfit minimal and easy — something we all adore on those early Monday mornings.
What I particularly like about this Fashionista’s outfit is her minimalist style. There isn’t anything too flashy or in-your-face, making this an easily adaptable look. In addition, her purple Longchamp accents her the jewel-tone themes of navy and turquoise.
There are fewer things I enjoy more than simple, worn-in T-shirts. To date, I probably own close to 10 different V-necks in all shapes and sizes. The reason being is because they are easy to dress up or down — for meeting with a professor or lounging around the house. Pair a crisp, white V-neck with a fitted blazer to dress up your day a little, or a cable-knit cardigan for a more laidback feel. While technically for men, H&M sells these affordable and stylish V-necks that pair well with boyfriends jeans, heeled booties and loose, wavy hair.
So next time you find yourself with a case of the Mondays, keep your casual look of leggings and a T-shirt, but with a little twist. Just like the little black dress, a classic white T-shirt is just as versatile, comfortable and cute.
