STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: In Bloom

January 1st, 2016 at 2:00am

When I was around nine years old, I remember being very insistent when telling my mother that she needed to stop buying me dresses. Dresses were too feminine, got in the way when I wanted to keep up with my brothers and just too dang high maintenance. Flash forward to the year 2015: if for some bazar reason I had to choose one article of clothing to wear for the rest of my life, it would be dresses. There is something about a cute dress that does it for me. It just goes to show that personal style evolves and what you like alters throughout the years. Contrary to my nine-year-old self, I will continue to embrace and rock the hell out of any dress that I choose. I love seeing how transformative a dress can be to a woman’s self confidence. When I saw this Fashionista rock her cute patterned dress, I had to stop and take a second look.

The reason why I love dresses as much as I do is because they are simple and effortless. Dresses are able to provide a stylish base with minimal effort. Plus, there are so many different styles of dresses that will appeal to many different people. You can add a flair of sophistication with a pair of heels or go for a casual look with a pair of cute booties. Not only are dresses easy to throw on, they are also comfortable. Being comfortable does not have to translate into looking lazy! When I spotted this stylish Fashionista, I was instantly attracted to her flower patterned dress. It looked incredibly versatile and comfortable. I also liked how vibrant the blue flowers looked against the black fabric.

This chic Fashionista dressed appropriately for the colder weather and added a black puffy jacket and a pair of amazing black tall boots. For those who live in colder areas, feel free to add extra warmth by wearing tights or leggings under your dress. She pulled the whole ensemble together by adding a pop of color with a green scarf. Any scarf color will do since the outfit is pretty neutral.  One of the reasons why I love this look as much as I do is because of the versatility it offers. She can wear this outfit for many different occasions such as a date, class or hanging out with friends on the weekend.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My style reflects who I am and helps show how I feel. I don’t really think I go by trends, but instead change my style whenever I feel like it.”
