Who here is obsessed with shoes? I’m sure we all are. If you’re here on CollegeFashionista, I know you are guilty of sneaking shoe boxes into the house without your mom seeing you. It takes a lot of practice and failure. Trust me, I know from personal experience. But anyway, for all my Fashionistas out there, shoe collections are massive. I mean, we have such a wide range of options. Boots for example, they come in so many different styles: tall, short, over-the-knee, heeled, wedge, cut-out, just about everything you can think of. There are just too many options. So much that us girls can even delve into a guys shoe collection and play with the oxford like today’s Fashionista.
Nothing is cooler than a chick who can rock a guy’s piece of clothing. What caught my attention was her slim gray wingtip oxfords which had an alluring pop of yellow soles and laces. It’s a very masculine looking pair of shoes yet she was able to balance it out by creating a soft feminine ensemble. Experiment with masculine pieces like this Fashionista did. Look for a pair of oxfords to toughen up a girly outfit. Choose a suede material so that it’s casual and easier to work with. You can always dress it up with your ensemble or some simple accessories. Then look for a playful pop of color to add a splash of character.
The rest of her outfit consists of a simple heather gray sweater T-shirt, a pair of slim distressed blue jeans and a voluminous scarf. Go for a similar casual look or get dressy with a blouse and a pair of slim pants. This boy-meets-girl look is here to stay. Designer brands such as Hermès and Diesel Black Gold agree as this trend is seen in their fall 2013 ready-to-wear collections. Jason Wu’s collection chimes in as well!
Don’t be afraid of experimenting masculine pieces. Peek into your brother’s closet or your boyfriend’s dresser and borrow something that you feel can be meshed into your own. Go ahead and try it. Good luck!
