STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: If I Was Your Boyfriend, I'd Never Let You Go

I cannot wait for fall fashion and I’m definitely jumping the gun preparing for what to wear. Even though we still have at least another month left of summer weather in most parts of the country, I’m already pulling my fall staples out of storage and incorporating them into my wardrobe. The sweaters, the rich burgundy and olive tones and, of course, denim…what’s not to love?

This Fashionista seemed to have a similar line of thinking, creating a great transition look for the time in between summer and fall. Heavy on trends, this Fashionista combined a boyfriend-type jean with a crop top and a visible lace detailed bralette. She finished off the look with a pair of slip-on Sanuk shoes, Ray-Bans and a vintage Gucci handbag. Many pieces from this Fashionista’s outfit were found at a thrift store. Thrift stores are great for finding worn-in, high-waisted denim.

What makes this look perfect for that awkward time in between summer and fall when the weather changes significantly throughout the day is the denim. Boyfriend jeans are THE denim trend for fall, and what makes them perfect for somewhat warm days is their looseness and short length. They don’t cling and the pegged look is so chic with sandals or boots! Also, the crop top is a thicker sweater-like material which makes the outfit a little warmer for the morning but also not stifling for a warmer afternoon.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I never agreed with people saying comfort over cute or cute over comfort. I really think you should always have a good balance of the two—cute but comfy.”
