STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Hercules, Hercules

From the Editor, Style Advice of the Week

Whether you were stuck inside this past weekend during the wrath of Hercules or enjoying your canceled classes due to -47-degree wind chills (no, that was not a typo), the weather that is blanketing most of the U.S. makes it clear that winter is here with vengeance. While such extreme temperatures usually results in ordering days worth of thai food and binge watching Scandal, eventually, folks, you will have to brave the weather.

Make the bitter cold temperatures a little more bearable by looking sharp while doing it. Don’t get lost in the blankets of white snow and gray slush. Instead, follow in the footsteps of this Fashionista and opt for a brightly colored coat.

This Fashionista’s red number is stunning. The color is rich and bold. The warmth of the red definitely combats the chilly temperatures outside. The black of the toggles and hardware is a great contrast to the vibrant color. This Fashionista kept the rest of her ensemble and her scarf black as well to really let the coat be the focal point of her look.

The silhouette of this Fashionista’s coat is also rather interesting. The boxy cut has a vintage feel to it, while the oversized silhouette has a masculine feel. Extra bonus? The loose fit allows for you to layer tons of sweaters, henleys and long sleeve T-shirts underneath it.

So, when desperation sets in and you are forced to once again to brave the cold, grab a colorful coat and be a beacon of sunshine in the winter chill.
