STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Hardly Over Overalls

Everyone knows the ancient saying “mother knows best.” Well, time and time again this saying proves true whenever my mother reminds me that “everything always comes back into style!” From jumpsuits, to leggings, to bell bottoms from the ’60s, she saved them all. She knew that she (let’s be real, more like I) would need them later when they came back in style. As the saying foretells, she was so right. This just so happens to be one of the many reasons why I have such a love for fashion—pieces can be reused and recycled and then transformed into styles that are completely new and trendy. Exhibit A: overalls.

When most people hear “overalls,” they automatically picture a farmer. Little do they know that overalls have made a comeback and can now be worn anywhere, anytime. Overalls are great additions to any Fashionista’s wardrobe because they are super easy to put on and create outfits that are stylish yet comfy. Besides being trendy and comfortable, however, the best part about them is that they double as bottoms. Picking out a pair of overalls to wear is like picking out a complete outfit. How simple is that?! If you’re in a time crunch (or just too indecisive to choose a separate top and bottoms), overalls are the perfect go-to solution to your problem.

This Fashionista pairs her light wash short overalls with a KISS band crop top, heart-shaped sunglasses, a slouchy black backpack and white Converse sneakers to complete her cool ’90s punk look. Light wash denim is great for the warmer weather because it gives off a summery, playful vibe, but the rock band T-shirt complements it well by giving her look an edge. If this is what you call “farmer,” then sign me up!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I’ve always had an interest in fashion, so I love trying out the latest fashion trends. When I saw that overalls were coming back, I got super excited to snag a pair of my own. Never be afraid to rock something that may have never been done before—you might surprise yourself with how fabulous you feel.”
