Style Advice of the Week

If diamonds are an Upper East Side debutante, then colored gemstones are her cool downtown friend. Colored stone jewelry has been on trend for a while now and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon. The biggest pro of this trend is that it is so versatile. You can choose to wear stones that more natural with a stone-like shape and coloring, or go flashier with geometric cut stones in bright colors. Dolce&Gabbana are one of the fashion houses that took this trend and ran with it. In their fall 2013 ready-to-wear line, they featured gemstones in their bold, baroque-style accessories.

This Fashionista added stacks of stone bracelets to enhance her knit sweater on a gray day. Because her bracelets are on the more natural side, each bead is unique with different gradients of color. For a mix of texture she added a single silver bangle. Stacking colored stone bracelets is a super easy way to dress up an outfit when you have five minutes to run out the door. In my opinion, you can never have too many; even stacks on both wrists look great. You can also add rings of similar style to really go for the bohemian look.

If you want to go for a more modern look, you can incorporate colored stones into your accessories through geometric necklaces and earrings. Tons of retailers offer statement necklaces that incorporate stones in bright spring colors. For special occasions or just a fun night out, look for stone jewelry that incorporates fuax diamonds for a little extra sparkle.

If your jewelry collection feels like it needs to be refreshed for spring, try mixing in stone jewelry for a bohemian or modern look!
