It can be said for many Fashionistas/os that one common fear we all may share is the fear of color. I know I have it! It’s taken me many years to divulge further into wearing bold and bright colors when I gravitate so much more to neutrals. I sprung a job at kate spade in the fall and working surrounded by her “live colorfully” motto has given me a big push to not be so afraid. However, there is something so beautiful and timeless about blacks and whites and everything in between. So I say there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the grayscale from time to time!
My first spring Fashionista this week shows us how to do black, white and gray all over in the best way! Her triangular patterned sweater is simple but standout against her dark denim. Pairing her ensemble with a black and white gemstone statement necklace, kate spade bag and black and gold loafers, this Fashionista perfectly rounds out this grayscale look.
To go for a similar outfit, get ready to bring out all of your favorite black and white pieces. Choose a color-blocked sweater like this one from Forever 21 and grab simple black skinny jeans to go with it. Decorate yourself with a statement necklace, a staple black bag and embellished flats from ALDO. To take this daytime look for a night out, trade the sweater for a fun polka-dot button-down with gray pants. Slip into black pumps and swap that large bag for something a little cuter!
With black, white and gray, the possibilities are literally endless. You could even go totally inverted and rock a white sweater over black leggings with gray boots and silver jewelry. No matter how you do grayscale, it will always be a classic fashion statement. The spring runways are covered with color of course, but I think the real showstoppers will always be the bold black and white pieces and simple monochromatic looks. If you’d like a little more inspiration, check out the spring Fashion Week runways of Brandon Sun and Ralph Lauren. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have so many great grayscale looks to put together Fashionistas/os!
