STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Go With The Flow

July 8th, 2015 at 2:00am

Accessories from kate spade, a five star filet mignon, tickets on first class and a glass of Dom Perignon. To take from the Sound of Music, these are a few of my favorite of my favorite things. However, some may say that Maria’s items may have been a tad more simplistic. While my tastes are high maintenance and unfortunately for my bank account, spare no expense, I’m a generally more low-key individual. I have a quieter demeanor, am very non-confrontational as well as accepting of others and down for wherever the moment takes me. Now, while my activity suggestions may go along the lines of jet set to Paris and drink champagne under the Eiffel tower, I am still just as happy drinking cheap beer and hanging out on my friend’s back deck. Well, for now.

Okay, so I’m not totally go with the flow, but I do genuinely appreciate an individual who embraces a more laid back, accept the moment kind of lifestyle. Hence, why this Fashionista caught my eye. The ambience her outfit emanates is totally chill vibes. While her vibes are chill, her outfit isn’t boring or grimy, the way some people confuse “chill” as.   Wearing sweatpants as a wardrobe staple doesn’t make you chill—just lazy.

The orange-red explosion of color of these maxi pants is the focal point of the outfit. The great thing about maxi pants is that they accentuate the curves of all individuals, no matter how small or large, in a form-fitting, feminine manner. If you love this Fashionista’s boho look as much as I do, then you will follow her lead and keep the bright, colored maxi pants the main feature of your outfit and match it with a neutral colored top. A peplum top such as hers stays with the theme of flow throughout the outfit. When the sunshine got to be too overbearing, the Fashionista sported a pair of oversized, round sunglasses. Willy Wonka may not have been able to pull them off, but she certainly can.

Finally, finish the ensemble by adding handmade hemp bracelets and charitable Lily and Laura bracelets. Unfamiliar with Lily and Laura? They are a jewelry design company whose aim is to provide women in Nepal with salaries above the fair trade wages, while providing you with a one of a kind handmade, gorgeous bracelet. Fashion and a good cause? How chic!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?” I love wearing really cool flowy, beachy styles so I buy tons of pants and shorts from places like Free People and Urban Outfitters. Matching the patterns and colors can be difficult, so keep it simple with a bunch of cheap tops from places like PacSun and Forever 21.”
