When summertime hits here in Tampa, there is one thing you can always be sure of—everyone wants to show a little more skin! Our shirts are sleeveless, our skirts are shorter and our toes are freed from all shoes closed-toed. With the summer sun beating down, it’s easy to trade in style for a T-shirt and a tall glass of water. But you don’t have to! This week I found a Fashionista who dressed for the heat while still expressing her personal sense of fashion.
The runways of Fashion Weeks worldwide this past spring gave us great trends to carry over into summer. One of these wardrobe options is the mini dress! (Louis Vuitton and Kate Spade showed us some of my personal favorites.) Minis are a great way to be fun and flirty while still staying cool in warm weather. Pick something that is light and airy like the one our Fashionista chose from Urban Outfitters. The cutout is totally trending right now and the print shows off her edgy instincts. The great thing about dresses is that they are easy to throw on and you can find them at all of your favorite stores. If you want one that’s flowy and floral, try the Acid Bloom Kick Out Dress from Free People. Maybe you love a cool geo/tribal pattern? This MINKPINK mini dress is perfect for day and night! Luckily there are minis out there ranging from beachy casual all the way to LBD status so there’s one for every occasion.
Now I know we all have a favorite pair of flip flops for summer but I love that this Fashionista chose a pair of high-strap gladiators instead to edge up her look even more. If you like this idea but maybe don’t want gladiators this high, try this pair from Sam & Libby at Target. I just got mine just a few weeks ago and they’ve already become a staple pair of shoes in my closet!
And of course don’t forget, I always believe in accessorizing. This Fashionista’s gold watch and jewelry and black and gold Michael Kors bag help tie her whole look together. So be sure to personalize your mini dress for wherever you’re headed this summer.
All this mini talk has made me super excited to purchase my next short summer dress! I’ve had my eye on this one from Conversation Pieces online. For anyone who hasn’t found this little online shop, be sure to check it out! The merchandise is always stocked according to season so there are definitely great summer finds on there. Just be sure to tell her I sent you!
