STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Get Smart with Colors

July 31st, 2015 at 2:10am

We’ve all had those moments. You look in your closet for something to wear and realize that a certain color on the color wheel has completely overwhelmed your entire wardrobe. For many, like myself, this color is black (yes, it is a color). And while I absolutely love black clothes, I do think it’s important to get smart with colors and keep a variety in your fashion options.

This Fashionista is rocking a wide range of colors and textures to create a sweet and simple look! Her off-the-shoulder lace top from Forever 21 is a deep burgundy shade that contrasts nicely with her classic white shorts and tan sandals from DSW. Keeping up with her lovely colors, this Fashionista decided to paint her nails with Wet n Wild’s spoiled shade: pick your poison. The only pieces on her outfit that match are her shoes and cross-body bag. When it comes to getting smart with colors, this Fashionista gets an A+!

If you’re looking to incorporate more colors into your wardrobe, you may be interested in the moods and feelings that certain colors can bring into your life and those around you! Red is an extremely powerful color that draws attention! It’s a color that energizes. Like red, the color orange is also full of energy. According to Knoji Consumer Knowledge, “Orange shows its wearers have confidence and because of its bright nature, it also tells people your ambitious and not afraid to be heard.”  Yellow is a great optimistic color that, in the right shade, guarantees you’ll positively standout in a crowd. Calmness and oneness with nature are feelings that the color green gives! Also, the color purple gives off vibes of sophistication. As I mentioned earlier, black is one of my favorite wardrobe colors. I definitely think there was a reason Neiman Marcus once said, “Women who wear black lead colorful lives.” Black is a timeless color that represents authority and power. Nonetheless, there are many more colors out there and you should definitely try them all out to keep a wardrobe that will fit your mood every single day of the week!

What’s your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I would encourage people to experiment with color. No two clothes are the same shade in my closet and this makes sure that my outfits don’t get repetitive.”
