Style Advice of the Week

While something romantic and nostalgic awakens within us after seeing a vintage  piece, there’s something entirely cool about seeing a futuristic and funky piece. Although fashion is in essence a cycle that builds on its history, it’s also a cycle that progresses forward at a pace faster than it can even keep up with. In an industry that is always competing to stay ahead of trends, one way to stay ahead is to dress for the future. Geometric shapes, sleek materials, metallic embellishments, unique fabrics and edgy designs all act as our current sartorial gateways to the future, and when you look as good as this Fashionisto good wearing them, why not?!

Futuristic, sleek designs were spotted all over the runways, and designers like Gucci, Nanette Lepore and Rebecca Minkoff all indulged in imagining futuristic fashion in their recent collections. Whether it be with sheer and reflective materials, tech-savvy garments, hologramed pieces or powerful, sleek looks, runway designers and Fashionistas can all agree on the fierceness of a futuristic look.

When I spotted this Fashionsito, I could not help but admire the way he interpreted the runway futuristic looks in his own street-smart way. By combining sleek black materials with bordeaux softer fabrics and by accessorizing with an oversized white digital watch, he mirrored the futuristic and tech-y looks of the runway. To make this style his own, he incorporated the dark colors through more street-style garments like his sweatshirt and sneakers. His hat was the perfect way to literally “cap off” his look, adding one final personal touch of hip-hop.
