Bored with your wardrobe? With just a month left of summer sometimes I get style-block around when I’ve already worn all my favorite summer outfits over and over again. This Fashionisto inspired me to think of ways to change up the items in the closet without breaking the bank—in fact without even opening the bank. Gotta love that!
This Fashionisto caught my eye with his “US Open” graphic tee worn inside-out. He cut the tag off perfectly so you couldn’t even tell that it wasn’t supposed to be worn like that. It made me think what else might look cool inside-out and really the possibilities are endless: an inside-out zip-up hoodie or a graphic tee with words on it (so the words will appear backwards) or a striped maxi dress, just to name a few. This idea gives your outfit an instant vintage look.
There are definitely some other ways to spunk up your wardrobe without actually buying anything. Think outside the box. For example, scan your closet for pieces that might look cool if worn backwards. A cardigan worn buttoned up with the buttons on the back can turn into a regular sweater with a cute back detail. For some more permanent ideas try splashing some bleach on an old black tee or cutting the back pockets off a pair of jean shorts. If you’re feeling super creative and bored you can bedazzle virtually anything with some fabric glue and rhinestones or metal studs. Got a rip in your tights? Add a few more rips and make it look like it was on purpose! Or do you have a ton of those free big T-shirts that I know I have accumulated throughout my life? Cut them into crop tops or muscle tanks.
Even if you’re not a big DIY-er, you can add some creativity and save some pennies by simply flipping your T-shirt inside-out or wearing it backwards. It’s the easiest and cheapest way to make a statement!
