STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Flaunt It!

April 2nd, 2015 at 2:00am

In case you missed it, last week was the 30th anniversary of the classic ’80s film, The Breakfast Club. In fact, as I am writing this, I’m listening to to the hit single “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds. To celebrate the film’s anniversary there was a special two day event on the 26th and the 31st of March where the movie was screened in select theaters.  We all should thank the director, John Hughes, for having created amazing coming of age stories where the lessons of love and life are all captured.

When I saw this Fashionista’s outfit, it reminded me of that ’80s spirit. Her outfit just screamed Molly Ringwald. Just look at her floral printed dress, light layered camel-colored blazer, the two button pins and black stockings. I love how she simply pieced everything together; it made me want to go to a record store and just jam out to “Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding, like Duckie did in Pretty in Pink.

The more I look at this outfit, the more I admire it (especially the two button pins, which are my favorite pieces)! They add character and personality to the outfit. Every morning when we get dressed for school or work, we label ourselves. Whether that label says tired or sophisticated, find a piece that will make your look pop and make sure it depicts a part of who you are. Whether it be a locket or a purse, flaunt it! Let the world know who you are and don’t let them forget it.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Now that it’s getting warmer, definitely wear more colors and have fun with it.”
