Style Advice of the Week

Okay, I think we can all agree that once the end of October hits we are all in full holiday mode. It also just happens to be one of the best times of year to showcase all the amazing pieces that hide in your wardrobe all summer and are bursting with sequins, glitter and jeweled tones. I have to admit I love seeing people walking the streets in their holiday bests— off to the Nutcracker or a holiday gathering. What I love even more is when I see a Fashionista get all the parts perfectly right when putting together a holiday outfit; they have just enough sparkle and class to seemed dressed up and in the spirit without going overboard.

I love the balance that this Fashionista has within her look. It’s just the right amount of holiday flare, but it’s still an outfit you could be seen wearing at most times of the year. I personally love the collaboration of the black and green color scheme. It doesn’t look too predictable, but it also embraces two really big festive colors without looking tacky. Another standout detail in this look is the polka-dots. Polka-dots are a minimal and simplistic pattern for any Fashionista to work, especially those who are a little more timid to try out patterns. These black polka-dots are striking, but they don’t overpower the look. Try this sweater or a polka-dot blouse in colors like burgundy, navy, black or even cream to pump up any look.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, pencil skirts are about as chic as you can get. They are flattering on any figure and are a great piece to sophisticate any wardrobe; wearing them in colors like this bright green make them not only a sophisticated but eye-catching! Like this Fashionista, you can find a pencil skirt at any length, a knee grazer for the work place or something more thigh length for a social event or night out.

I would say that the details in this look really take this outfit to the next level. The jeweled belt adds that festive flare for the holiday season, but it is also a piece that can come on and off depending on your atmosphere. The bright red lip is also such a powerful accent especially paired with the jeweled green in the pencil skirt. Dig through your wardrobe ladies and find those pieces that make you feel glitzy and festive— a jeweled headband or those polka dot socks hiding in your drawer. Pair then with a pair of low booties and scrunch them up over a pair of tights! Tis’ the season to be fashionable!
