STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Feminine Ballerina

March 13th, 2015 at 2:00am

For years, I have embraced my feminine side through fashion and makeup. Looking through my closet, most of my clothes are embellished with lace, glitter or some kind of floral pattern. I always wear a jeweled necklace and later dab my lips in a rose pink lipstick. As someone who appreciates art in all forms, I approach beauty and aesthetics through a feminine perspective. For Fashionistas who love pearls, pastel colors and soft skirts, this week’s Fashionista will inspire you on a whole new level!

Looking for new ways to soften your wardrobe? The Fashionista photographed above can bring your feminine style into a new direction. Focusing on her ballerina-inspired look, she makes herself seem innocent, yet she incorporates subtle hints of edge into her outfit. She puts on a tutu skirt and then she enhances the outfit with pastel pink shoelaces. Aside from the cream-colored tutu, she makes her ensemble appropriate for winter by wearing all-black. The tulle fabric gives her look some texture and volume, which makes the skirt stand out. Her tutu has a strong feminine touch; however, she diversifies her style by wearing black boots. She juxtaposes her grungy boots by using pink ribbon as shoelaces. In general, black and pink express two opposing moods. When done correctly, the two colors can deepen an outfit and make it less flat and monotone.

The Fashionista illustrates the beauty behind feminine fashion. Even though the boots play down the softness in her look, she demonstrates how Fashionistas can still look feminine with tomboy accents.  She balances out the femininity in her outfit without making her style cliché and over the top. As another option, one can simply change out the boots for a pair of ballet flats. Ballet flats are very traditional, and they will make less of a statement. Depending on your style, both shoes will still make you shine under the spotlight.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “For a feminine look, create an outfit inspired by the ballet. Look for a simple, tulle skirt that has pastel colors. Creams and pastels will make your outfit look young and delicate all day.”
