STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Feeling Red, White And Blue

Style Advice of the Week

Red, white and blue is about the most classic color combination out there. Originating in 1776 with the first American Flag (basic US history, folks!) the combination has since made its way to foods, clothing and accessories. You can see it somewhere on almost every Frat T-shirt, patriotic cupcake and even on the British Flag (yes, our rivals; but yes, still repping the red, white and blue.) While this color combination was once reserved for only the Fourth of July, it has now made its way into almost every cute wardrobe out there. It is a perfect way to mix colors without going too crazy. When going for this look, however, it is important to keep things simple so you do not look like a firework.

This Fashionista pulls off the “America trifecta” perfectly! She pairs a pair of red jeans (a great statement piece!) with a flowing white eyelet top. To top the look off, she adds a blue lightweight cardigan. Her accessories get in on the action as well, with a pair of neutral brown flip flops and an eye catching white watch.

The important part of her overall look is how classic and refined all of the pieces are. Instead of opting for loud prints, which can be overwhelming in such bright colors, she goes for basics. The color-blocking is balanced by her white shirt, and no other part of her outfit takes away from the clothing. Overall, this proves to be a great look for any time of the year!
