When New York Fashion Week arrived, I had my eyes glued to Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter for a week straight. It wasn’t hard to pick out my favorite collections; I can’t stop looking through Zac Posen’s frills and Rachel Zoe’s jean dresses. My favorite look, though, were the floral dresses, skirts and pants I saw on Oscar de la Renta and J.Crew’s runways. While coming down from my fashion week high, I was thrilled to see this Fashionista rocking one of my favorite spring runway trends, floral blooms, on the streets of Madison.
In order to keep warm on one of our first chilly days, this Fashionista paired a sheer, flowery blouse with classic skinny jeans. Even though there aren’t flowers blooming anymore, the right color combination can make floral print work during any season. The dark color palette of her blouse perfectly transitions this warm-weather trend into a great fall outfit. She finished off her look with a long necklace, a bright, studded tote to carry her books and a pair of lace-up leather boots that will be a must-have once the snow comes in a few months.
When fall rolls around some Fashionistas/os forget about pattern and color, choosing solid prints and neutrals over something more exciting. Rocking a blouse with a floral pattern like this Fashionista is a great way to incorporate pattern and color into your wardrobe while transitioning into your cool-weather clothes. Blouses are also a great transitional piece because they’re easy to accessorize in any season. Check out Forever 21’s collection of layering necklaces to copy this Fashionista’s look or replace those with a knit infinity scarf for colder days.
I’ll definitely be investing in some floral patterns this fall as I try to incorporate some of my favorite runway looks into my outfits. I hope everyone enjoyed New York Fashion Week as much as I did. I’ll be scanning the streets for your runway-inspired looks!
