STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Falling For Denim

October 12th, 2015 at 2:10am

We are slowly, but surely approaching the time of the year where we start to break out the cold weather wardrobe and begin to prepare for walks to class in mushy puddles of snow. However, before that occurs, we get to experience crisp fall leaves, orange and brown hues and the happiness of pumpkin spice coffee; fall is in the air. Fall is my favorite season and as the leaves begin to slowly change, so do the outfits that I see among my peers on campus. Short sleeves turn into long sleeves and shorts turn into jeans. The flip flops are put away and new fashion boots leave footprints all over campus. Yet, sometimes Mother Nature has a mind of her own and unusual weather occurs. This means that outfit creativity is key so you can be both practical and fashionable while the seasons transition.

One of my favorite trends this year is denim. Denim tanks tops, skirts and dresses from your summer wardrobe can quickly turn into cute fall pieces for the upcoming season.

This Fashionista took an adorable denim dress and added accessories to make the perfect outfit for a transitional day when the weather is warm, but a bit colder the sunny summer days. The denim trend can be approached in so many different ways when you are styling an outfit. This Fashionista added some really funky and wild pieces. Her bracelets give a pop of color, neon green, which still gives her outfit a bit of a summer feel, since it is not quite fall just yet. She also added a gold statement necklace that really draws attention to her outfit by catching your eye while also dressing up the outfit. One of my favorite parts of how this Fashionista dressed up her outfit was her cheetah flats. Flats are a great transition shoe from summer sandals to fall footwear before the boots come out of storage. Cheetah print can spice up almost any outfit and I am a total advocate of animal print anything for the fall. In all, dressing up denim can be made possible in just about any way, which is why denim is perfect in any season, for just about any reason.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When it comes to a trend that I see around campus, I always try to make it my own with accessories and such, because most trends die and you can always become the next trendsetter if you are ahead of the game and stay original.”
