There’s a reason why everyone loves wearing black and gray in the winter. Yes, I’m officially calling it winter here in Chicago because 19-degree weather does not constitute fall in my book. Back to the topic at hand, black and gray. The world’s darkest colors are also easy to wear, yet still communicate a seriousness for fashion.
I admire her stylish approach to a fairly monotone outfit. Like you’ve seen in some of my other posts, I love the varsity jacket trend. This mixes the tweed from the motorcycle jacket from last week’s post and the simplicity of the varsity jacket we have all come to love. Sometimes, the trendier the color of a jacket, the harder it is to find things to go with it. This will never be the case for her since black and gray are closet staple colors, and she can throw on anything underneath. Try one like this. As you can see, she has a pop of purple underneath for extra layering which is the perfect way to break up the look.
On the bottom, she’s got on the classic leggings. Try some like these from J.Crew that are a little more durable and thick for this colder weather. With a chunky knitted gray scarf, she’s brought back some more gray from the jacket.
Finishing touches include some yellow kate spade earrings, which I think brighten up her face and make her look just a bit more sunny. Lastly, the ever popular and stylish black and brown color blocked boots that are great for both this fall and winter, however cold your fall has become.
