Style Advice of the Week

This might come as a bit of a shock now (seeing as I write for a fashion website and everything), but I was actually quite the tomboy growing up. While my friends all wanted to be Disney princesses or ballerinas for Halloween, I always wanted to be a cowgirl. I still have my old fringe vest buried somewhere in the depths of my closet. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was to see the hippie trend come back in recent years with such force.

No longer reserved to California, Coachella or Cowgirls, fringe clothing and accessories are perfect for casual everyday ensembles. This Fashionista incorporates the trend into her bag, a large tote which is great for a day of shopping. The fringe adds a unique edge to the bag that makes it stand out without being too loud or eccentric due to its neutral coloring. The boho vibe continues with the dainty and intricate pendant necklace. You can also see it through the Fashionista’s moccasins with fringe detailing. The shoes have a splash of bright colors to complement the otherwise neutral outfit. They are the excellent shoes for a casual day since they’re basically slippers and won’t kill your feet, but also look cute with a simple outfit. She finished off her outfit with a simple and chic knit sweater, a plain white T-shirt and flared dark wash skinny jeans. This helps to keep the emphasis on the moccasins and the bag.

One of the best things about fashion is that eventually, all trends find their way back to the runway and back in style. So hold onto that outdated piece of clothing that you love,  because chances are you’ll see your favorite old trend come back very soon. If it doesn’t come back, wear it anyway—fashion is about wearing what you love! What are some trends you’re hoping make a comeback in the near future?
